Older & Bolder - Defend the State Pension

The client

Older & Bolder, a campaigning coalition of the main Irish charities working with and for older people.

The context

With the Government cutting spending across the board, in the run up to the Budget Older & Bolder wanted to make sure that protecting the state pension was top of the public agenda.

We built their current website (in 2009), so they came to us to put together an online strategy for the campaign.

The problem

With an advertising plan in the bag, Older & Bolder needed a web presence that allowed people to respond and connect with the campaign, and that could demonstrate public support to decision-makers.

Our solution

The timings were tight, but awareness and action would only matter before the key budget decisions were made.

We built an online petition on the Older and Bolder site, collecting over 4,900 online signatures, plus moving testimonies from older people about what the state pension meant to them. Offline over 45,000 signatures were collected around the Country.

This was supported by an email campaign, running over several weeks, to promote the campaign video and push supporters to the action. This included developing templates and messaging, as well as delivery.

We also created a facebook page for the campaign, integrating campaign video and the petition form as a custom landing page, gathering over 1000 campaign sign ups.
